Where are the drawings saved?
On the device, in the app's own storage. Every stroke is saved as it is made, so closing the app or the page loses nothing. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.
How do I get a drawing out of the app?
On the shelf, tap the ⋯ button on a picture to share it as an image — to Messages, Mail, Photos or anywhere else the share sheet offers — or to rename or delete it.
Can my child put a photo on the page?
Yes, if you switch on "Pictures from Photos" in Settings; it is off by default. The photo is chosen with Apple's picker, which needs no permission, and can be dragged, pinched bigger and turned before it lands. The app never sees the rest of the library.
My child keeps leaving the page by accident.
Switch on "Hold to leave a drawing" in Settings. The back button then needs holding for two seconds instead of a tap, so a wandering thumb stays on the page.
How do I clear the page?
Undo takes strokes back one at a time. To wipe the whole page in one go, switch on "Bin to clear the page" in Settings; it adds a bin to the tools, and undo still brings the drawing back.
Where are the symmetry and paper settings?
The flower icon at the right of the size slider switches between no mirror, mirror, four ways and mandala. The circle in the top bar opens the paper picker, with seven colours and optional squares or dots to draw on.
Available languages
Homemade Drawings speaks English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese and Simplified Chinese. Change the language any time in Settings — it applies on the spot.
Privacy
Homemade Drawings works entirely offline. It needs no account and collects no personal data of any kind — no ads, no analytics, no tracking. The only permission it can ask for is to add a drawing to your photo library, and only when you choose to. Full details are on the Homemade Drawings privacy page..
